THERAPEUTIC GRIEF GROUP COUNSELING

Discover the value of grief groups as you navigate your grief journey. At Greater Life Grief Counseling, LCSW, we provide valuable resources to support you through your grief. Our therapeutic grief groups offer a confidential, safe, and supportive environment led by a certified grief counselor and Fellow in Thanatology: Study of Death, Dying, and Bereavement. By joining our grief groups, you gain a platform to express your emotions and memories of your loved one.

Here are some of the key benefits you can experience by participating in our grief groups:

1. Connect with Understanding Peers: Find solace in connecting with others who are going through a similar grieving process. Share your experiences and feel the comfort of knowing you are not alone in your grief.

2. Gain New Perspectives: By interacting with fellow group members, you can gain different perspectives on grief, helping you broaden your understanding and find new ways to cope.

3. Validation and Support: Our grief groups provide a validating environment where you can openly express your emotions and be heard. Feel supported by individuals who truly understand the difficulties of grief.

4. Learn Coping Tools: The grief group facilitator offers psychoeducation on grief and provides you with coping tools to navigate your grief in a healthy manner. Gain valuable insights and practical techniques to aid your healing process.

Therapeutic grief groups at Greater Life Grief Counseling, LCSW are designed to be structured and closed, meaning they have a set number of sessions and a specific group of participants who commit to attending regularly. This structure fosters a sense of safety and continuity, allowing participants to build trust and establish deeper connections over time.

In these groups, you will not only have the opportunity to share about your loved one but also engage in activities that facilitate the processing of your loss. Additionally, we incorporate grief rituals and provide homework assignments to further support your healing journey.

We understand the importance of accessibility, which is why our group counseling services are available both in person and virtually. Whether you reside in New York, Florida, or South Carolina, you can join our grief groups and receive the support you need. Grief groups are offered in Malta, NY, and virtually via Zoom. COPING WITH THE HOLIDAYS

PET LOSS GRIEF GROUP

Grief is a journey, and sometimes, it's the loss of a cherished pet that touches our hearts the deepest. It's a form of grief that can often be misunderstood, leaving us with what we call "disenfranchised grief" - a loss that's not always openly acknowledged or supported by our friends or family.

In collaboration with the Animal Protective Foundation and with the generous sponsorship of In the Comfort of Home, I will be facilitating a Pet Loss Grief Group at Greater Life Grief Counseling in Malta, NY as well as virtually via Zoom. This safe space is where you can share your feelings, find understanding, and connect with others who've experienced the profound loss of a furry friend.

Why join?

  • Gain insights into the unique nature of pet loss grief.

  • Find comfort in knowing that your grief is valid and recognized.

  • Connect with a community that genuinely cares about your journey.

Registration is required to ensure we have enough space and resources for everyone. To reserve your spot, please email me at kelly@glgriefcounseling.com. Together, we can honor the memory of our beloved pets and navigate the path of grief with compassion.

Free and Open to the Public

A children's grief group can help children and adolescents know they are not alone in their grief and can connect with other grieving children. 1 in 12 children in the US will experience the death of a parent or sibling by the time they turn 18 years old, and many children and adolescents feel alone in their grief and don't know other grieving children. Grief groups help normalize grief experiences and help them feel less isolated.  Art, music, games, and more are utilized to help children process their grief in a developmentally appropriate process. Groups are led by a Certified Grief Counselor and are held in a safe, supportive environment.
